HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 89-053RESOLUTION NO. 89-53 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT REQUIRING THE INCORPORATION OF CANOPY TREES IN RESIDENTIAL LANDSCAPING PLANS. WHEREAS, the City of Palm Desert is concerned for the future of the quality of air and energy conservation; and WHEREAS, any efforts that can be undertaken to mitigate our air quality and energy problems should be adopted by Palm Desert; and WHEREAS, the requiring of canopy trees has been shown to provide direct beneficial impacts in air quality and assist in energy conservation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert that as part of all landscaping plans submitted for approval in residential areas that a minimum requirement of one canopy tree per 4000 square feet of lot area or portion thereof should be required. The minimum size of said trees shall be a 24 inch box, and placed in a manner to optimize energy conservation. PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Palm Desert City Council, held on the 27th day of April, 1989, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: CRITES, KELLY, SNYDER, WILSON NOES: NONE ABSENT: BENSON ABSTAIN: NONE ATTEST: � 1 // � � HEILA R.
