A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF PALM DESERT. CALIFORNIA ,
SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 1564
WHEREAS. the Kevin Collins Foundation for Missing Children
is asking for suAport of the passage of Senate Bill 1564 which
would changF existing kidnapping statut.es in the State of
California : and
NHEREAS, the Foundation has worked with State officials and
other agenr_ ies in developing legislation to create within the
Californi � Department of J � stice a Violent Crime Information
Center staffed bv specialists trained to work with local law
enf��rr_ ement to receive . analyze . and disseminate information
concerning abducted r_hildren and tf�eir abductors : and
NHEREAS , even though much has been accomplished . further
effort is needed to ensure when kidnappers are apprehended that
society can be assured that they pav f�r their crimes and help
stop the widespread kidnapping of innocent children : and
WHEREAS, it is hoped with the successful passage of SB 1564
public prosecutors wiil be encouraged to pursue kidnapping
charges in all cases where the crime took place .
NOW . THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED bv the City Council of the
City of Palm Desert . California , that it supports this
legislation and urges State legislators to vote in suoport of SB
1564 .
PASSED . APPROVED , and ADOPTED by the City Council of the
Citv of Palm Desert . California , at its regular meeting held on
the 8th day of March . 1990 .� by the following vote , to wit :
