A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA,
CERTIFYING A NEGATIVE DECLARATION OF
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT FOR THE PLACING OF
THE UNINCORPORATED COMMUNITY OF BERMUDA
DUNES IN THE SPHERE OF INFLUENCE OF THE
CITY OF PALM DESERT AS MEETING THE
REQUIREMENTS OF THE CALIFORNIA
ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ACT OF 1970 AS
AMENDED.
WHEREAS, a group of residents have applied to the Riverside County
Local Area Formation Commission (LAFCO) to be placed in the sphere of
influence of the City of Palm Desert; and
WHEREAS, LAFCO has requested that the City of Palm Desert act as
the lead agency for CEQA purposes; and
WHEREAS, the placing of an area in a city' s sphere of influence
does not alter the physical or political status or situation of said
community and, therefore, has no potential significant adverse impact
on the environment; and
WHEREAS, an initial study completed for this application has
determined that the placing of the unincorporated community of Bermuda
Dunes in Palm Desert' s sphere of influence could not have a potential
significant adverse impact on the environment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Palm Desert, California, certifying a negative declaration of
environmental impact for the placing of the unincorporated community of
Bermuda Dunes in the sphere of influence of the City of Palm Desert as
meeting the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act of
1970 as amended.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Palm
Desert City Council, held on this 28th, day of February, 1991, by the
following vote, to wit:
AYES: BENSON, CRITES, KELLY, WILSON, SNYDER
