HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 93-0860 RESOI,UTION NO. 93-86 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 13 REGARDING SMOKING AND TOBACCO CONTROL WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, wishes to make it known that they are in full support of Assembly Bill No. 13 [AB 13j; and WHEREAS, in July, 1993, the Senate Health and Human Services committee passed Assembly Bill No. 13 which prohibits smoking in all enclosed places of employment with the exception of the following: 1. Hotel-motel sleeping rooms; 2. Parts of hotel lobbies; 3. Any "free-standing bar"; 4 Any cardroom or charity bingo facility; 5. Portions of warehouse facilities of more than 100 000 square feet and employing twenty (20) or fewer full-time employees that is not defined as office space; 6. Municipal or County-owned/operated convention facilities with no guest facilities for overnight rooms in jurisdictions with a population of 250,000 or more; and 7. Any tavern or bar that is located in a hotel or buildinq, is a separate and distinct space from a restaurant, and where food service, if any, is incidental to the consumption of alcoholic beverages. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, encourages members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senate Appropriations Committee and their Senators to vote "Aye" on AB 13. NOW, TiiEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE that it is in full support of AB 13.
