RESOLUTION N0. 94-45 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE EXPANSION OF THE SANTA ROSA MOUNTAINS NATIONAL SCENIC AREA TO INCLUDE UNITED STATES FOREST SERVICE LANDS WHEREAS, the Secretary of the Interior established the Santa Rosa Mountains National Scenic Area on May 5, 1990, in recoqnition of its scenic, natural, and cultural resource values, and directed that the National Scenic Area be administered by the Bureau of Land Management; and WHEREAS, the National Scenic Area as designated does not include those lands which are higher in elevation that the Bureau of Land Management lands but below the "desert divide" or ridgeline of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains; and WHEREAS, the lands which are higher in elevation than the Bureau of Land Management lands but below the "desert divide" are within the San Bernardino National Forest and form an important part of the scenic backdrop of the Coachella Valley which the National Scenic Ares was designated to protect, and possess important wildlife, cultural, and recreational opportunities related to those within the National Scenic Area; and WHEREAS, the United States Forest Service has expressed interest in that portion of the National Forest between the National Scenic Area boundary and the "desert divide" being designated a National Scenic Area; and PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, on this 14th day of April, 1994, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: BENSON, NOES: NONE ABSENT: WILSON ABSTAIN: NONE � / . * � ���C� : SHEILA R.i CRITES, KELLY, SNYDER GAN, CLERK �
