HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 95-076RESOLUTION NO. 95-76 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT ESTABLISHING AN UNDERGROUNDING DISTRICT FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE EXPENDITURE OF RULE 20A FUNDS BY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY. WHEREAS, pedestrian sidewalk improvements along the east side of San Pablo Avenue are currently budgeted within the scope of capital improvements slated for completion in 1996. WHEREAS, the sidewalk improvements will accommodate a heavy volume of pedestrian traffic seeking access to the Palm Desert Civic Center Park, YMCA, College of the Desert, and Joslyn Cove Senior Center as well as numerous shopping districts to the south. WHEREAS, the existing overhead electrical facilities passes directly over the proposed pedestrian sidewalk improvements and the underground conversion of the existing overhead electric facilities will greatly enhance pedestrian safety traveling on the above sidewalk improvements. WHEREAS, the undergrounding of the existing overhead electrical facilities along San Pablo Avenue will greatly improve vehicular traffic safety. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED at a duly noticed advertised Public Meeting on August 24, 1995 that the City Council of the City of Palm Desert hereby determines that the public necessity, health, safety and welfare requires the removal of the existing overhead utilities location as shown in Exhibit A of this resolution.
