A RE.SOLUTION OF TI� CITY COUNCII, OF TI� CITY OF
PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA SUPPORTING THE
HEALTHY CITIES CONCEPT A1�1D I':VI)ICATING THE
INTENT TO CONTINiTE PARTICIPATION.

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, has placed a high
priority on improving the quality of life for all citizens of the City; ancl
WHEREAS, such an effort must be broad in scope to include all aspects of the
environment; and
WHEREAS, success will depend on coordinated efforts of both the public and private
sectors; and
WHEREAS, new programs with proven success in other locations should be considered
for their applicabiliry to the situation in the City of Palm Desert.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Palm
Desert supports the California Healthy Cities concept as a means of integrating health concerns
into a broad approach to improving the overall environment in the City and intends to continue
in the project as established by the State of California Department of Health Services.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Palm Desert wili continue developing
programs to address specific health and safety needs within our community. Implementation of
the bicycle safety and access program will address specific health and safety needs of Palm Desert
residents and guests.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Palm Desert City
Council held on this lOth day of April, 1997, by the following vote, to wit:
