A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT,
CALIFORNIA, REVISING THE APPOINTMENT DATE FOR ALL
CITY COMMITTEES & COMMISSIONS AND ESTABLISHING A
RESIDENT POLICY FOR COMMITTEE/COMMISSION APPOINTMENTS
WHEREAS, in 1973, the City established Scptember 151 as the beginning datc for terms on

for appointments, a January 1 beginning date would be more conducive to the new program; and
WHEREAS, the City receives numerous applications annually from its residents who wish
to participate on a City Committee or Commission. Because the number of seats on boards is
limited, a policy is recommended which would require Palm Desert residency for appointment unless
the City Council determined an individual who was not a resident was needed for a particular
expertise or background.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Counci] of the City of Palm
Desert, California, as follows:
Section 1: The beginning dates for all terms of appointment to any City Committee or
