RESOLUTION NO. 98-153
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA,
CONTINUING PARTICIPATION IN THE RIVERSIDE COUNTY
ABANDONED VEHICLE ABATEMENT SERVICE AUTHORITY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert adopted Resolution No. 94-94 on
August 25, 1994, requesting that a Service Authority for Abandoned Vehicle Abatement (AVA) be
established in Riverside County pursuant to Section 22710 of the California Vehicle Code; and,
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 94-94 authorized the City's participation in the program and the
plan of the Service Authority to impose a one dollar ($1) vehicle registration fee for a period of five
years; and,
. WHEREAS, the 1996 revision to California Vehicle Code Section 9250.7 (c) authorized an
additional five (5) years to this program;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
SECTION 1. That the City Council authorize the City Manager to continue participation in the
Riverside County Service Authority for Abandoned Vehicle Abatement, which will continue to impose
a one dollar ($1) vehicle registration fee. The fees imposed by the Service Authority shall remain in
effect as established and from time to time amended by the California Vehicle Code.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, State
of California, on this 10th day of December, 1998, by the following vote:
AYES: Benson, Crites, Ferguson, Kelly, Spiegel
