RESOLUTION NO. 98-47
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
�,�, PALMDESERT, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE COUNTYAUDITOR TO
ASSESS PROPERTY FOR COST OF NUISANCE ABATEMENT PURSUANT TO
SECTION 2.20.140 OF THE PALM DESERT MUNICIPAL CODE.
The City Council of the City of Palm Desert hereby Resolves and Orders as follows:
WHEREA.S, A complaint from neighbors was filed with the City on March 12,1997, that there was
a Ir�ge amount of weeds and overgrown grass on property located at 74265 Primrose Drive, in the
City of Palm Desert, and
WHEREAS, after mcnry unsuccessful attempts to obtain volunta�y compliarice, the City did, on June
27, 1997, issued a Notice to Abate and posted the property in a conspicuous locatio�l a�id notified
the property owner by certifred mail describing the violation, and
WHEREAS, the rluisance was not abated as prescribed in said "Order of Abatement "; and as a
consequence, the City incy�rred costs to proceed with the abatement, and
,.,.. WHEREA.S, the City billed the property owner November 12, 1997 in the same manner as posting
of the "Order ofAbatement, "and

WHEREAS, said bill, after sixty (60) dcrys, was not paid, and
WHEREA.S, on Apri123, 1998, the City Courrci[ authorized staff to notify the county audrtor of the
delinquent bill, and
WHEREA.S, The City has contractual agreement with the County of Riverside for such collection
services.
NOW THEREFORE, The City Council of the City of Palm Desert hereby RESOLi�S cmd
ORDERS as follows:
Sectioir I. That the above recitatio�rs are true and correct.

Section 2. That the City staff is hereby directed to request that the County Auditor, pursuant
to sectron 2.20.140 of the Palm Desert Murricipal Caie, place a lien on the tax bill for the
uiicollected payment of the cost of abatement of a public nuisance situation on the following
property:

$400.00 For administrative cost involving correspondence with property owner,
reinspection, and preparing reports rnld frling property lien.
$50.00 Film use for evidence, copy machine use and postage.
$700.00 Contract clearrup, removal and landfill costs
