A RL 'SOL UTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PALMDESERT, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE COUNTYAUDITOR TO
"' ASSESSPROPERTYFOR COST OFNUISANCEABATEMENT PURSUANT TO
SECTION 8.20.140 OF THE PALM DESERT MUNICIPAL CODE.
The City Counci! oJthe City of Palm Desert hereby Resolves and Orders as jollows:
WHE1?F 9.5, A complaint wns filed with the City on July 20,1998, that there was a large amount of
weeds and litter on property located at 74060 Goleta Avenue, in the City of Palm Desert, and
WHEREAS, on July 20, 1998, the City issued a Notice to Abate and posted the property in a
conspicuous location and notified the property owner by certified mail describing the violation, and
WHEREAS, the nuisance was not abated as prescribed in said "Order of Abatement; " and as a
consequence, the City incurred costs to proceed with the abatement, and
WHERF I.S, the City billed the property owner September 3, 1998, in the same manner as posting
of the "Order of Abatement, " and
WHEREAS, said bill, after sixty (b0) days, was not paid, and

WHEREAS, on January 28, 1999, the City Council authorized staff to notify the county auditor of
the delinquent bill, and
WHERF.AS, The City has contractual agreement with the Counry of Riverside for such collection
services.
NOW THEREFORE, The City Council of the City of Palm Desert hereby RESOLVES and
ORDERS as follows:
Section 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

Section 2. That City staff is hereby directed to request the County Auditor, pursuant to
section 8.20.140 of the Palm Desert Municipal Code, to place a lien on the tax bill for the
uncollected payment of the cost of abatement of a public nuisance situation on the following
property:

Section 3. That the amount owed to the City is as follows:
$400.00 For administrative cost irrvolving correspondence with property owner,
reinspections, preparing reports and filing property lien.
$20.00 Film use for evidence, copy ntachine use and postage.
$140.00 Contract cleanup, removal and landfill costs
$560.00 TOTAL
