A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY PALM DESERT
ESTABLISHING AN UNDERGROUNDING DISTRICT FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE
EXPENDITURE OF RULE 20A FUNDS BY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON
COMPANY.
WHEREAS, vehicular and pedestrian access improvements along the west side of Cook
Street are currently in design for the students and facility of the Palm Desert High School and
slated for construction in 2001; and
WHEREAS, the vehicular and pedestrian improvements will accommodate a heavy
volume of traffic seeking ingress and egress to the facilities at Palm Desert High School; and
WHEREAS, the existing overhead electrical facilities pass directly over the proposed
vehicular and pedestrian access improvements, and the underground conversion of the existing
overhead electrical facilities will greatly enhance vehicular and pedestrian safety traveling to and
from Palm Desert High School.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED at a duly noticed advertised public meeting
of the City Council, on August 24, 2000, that the City Council of the City of Palm Desert,
California, hereby determines that the public necessity health, safety, and welfare require the
removal of the existing overhead electrical facilities on the west side of Cook Street, location as
shown in Exhibit A of this resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Palm Desert held on this 24th day of August, 2000, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: BENSON, KELLY, SPIEGEL, CRITES
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: FERGUSON
ABSTAIN: NONE /72,
