HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 00-106RESOLUTION NO. 00-106 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA ENDORSING CALIFORNIA HEALTHY CITIES AND COMMUNITIES. WHEREAS, the California Healthy Cities and Communities was established as a program of the Center for Civic Partnerships as a statewide inlative designed to enhance the capacity of local governments, community based organizations, and others to improve community health and quality of life; and WHEREAS, the Center Is a collective of community building iniatives that emphasizes participatory governance and a system approach to healthier communities; and WHEREAS, the City joined this worthy cause at its grassroots beginning In 1988 with only eight partnerships and has grown to more than 50 partnerships; and WHEREAS, the City's mission is to provide leadership, vision, and progress which promotes economic growth, personal well-being, and livable communities for the citizens of Palm Desert. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, recognizes the significance of the California Healthy Cities and Communities and endorses its continued endeavors In state and national Inlatives designed to promote and support healthier communities. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California will continue to support and promote these same efforts within our own community. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at the regular meeting of the Palm Desert City Council held on this 24th day of August, 2000, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: BENSON, KELLY, SPIEGEL, CRITES NOES: NONE ABSENT: FERGUSON ABSTAIN: NONE BUF C.
