HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 00-052RESOLUTION NO. 00-52 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 93-23 AND EXPANDING THE BOARD OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION TO NINE MEMBERS PLUS ONE ALTERNATE WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission was created in 1976 as a five - member board with its primary responsibility those matters dealing with the parks and recreational issues in the City; and WHEREAS, the City of Palm Desert has experienced tremendous growth since 1976, and the need for ongoing recreation programs, the operation and maintenance of parks and recreational facilities, and long-range planning has substantially increased with that growth; and WHEREAS, it is believed that a 10-member commission would bring broader representation to the community to review and make decisions on these increased challenges. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, that the Parks and Recreation Commission be expanded from seven members plus one alternate member to nine members plus one alternate member, each to be appointed by the City Council to serve four-year terms. PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, at its regular meeting held on the 11th day of May, 2000, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: BENSON, FERGUSON, KELLY, SPIEGEL, CRITES NOES: NONE ABSENT: NoNE ABSTAIN: NONE BUFOA.
