A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM
DESERT, CALIFORNIA, FORMING THE CITY OF PALM DESERT
LANDSCAPE BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert desires to form the City of
Palm Desert Landscape Beautification Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City the City Council of the City
of Palm Desert, California as follows:
SECTION I: There is hereby created by the City of Palm Desert the Palm Desert
Landscape Beautification Committee consisting of the following members of the City
staff and two Council members and one Planning Commissioner. The staff members
shall be the City Manager, the Assistant City Manager for Development Services, the
Public Works Director, the Community Development Director, the Parks and Recreation
Manager, and the Landscape Manager. The Council shall appoint two members of the
City Council and the Planning Commission shall appoint one member from the Planning
Commission.
SECTION II: Term of Office
There is no specific term of office, but the Council members and Planning
Commissioner may be rotated annually depending upon the discretion of the City
Council and Planning Commission. The staff members shall remain on the Committee
indefinitely.
SECTION III: Landscape Committee Purpose
The Committee's purpose is to review, make recommendations, to Council
Commission, staff and developing and property owners and engineering and design
professional, and approve of municipal and private project landscape designs that
require more than a staff -level review. In addition, the Committee shall provide a forum
for the review and recommendation of landscape -related issues to the City Council for
the City of Palm Desert.
SECTION IV: Time and Place of Meetings
The regular meeting of the Committee may be routinely established or may be on
call of the Chairman of such Committee.
SECTION V: Appointment of Officers
A Chairman and Vice -Chairman shall be selected by the members of the
Committee at their first regular organizational meeting and the Chairman and Vice -
Chairman shall serve the term of one year or until their successor is selected.

SECTION VI: Recordkeeoina
The Committee shall keep a public record of its transactions, findings, and
determinations and shall keep and maintain minutes of said meetings and shall be
subject to all requirements of the Ralph M. Brown Act regarding open meetings.
SECTION VIII: Duties of the Officers
A. The Chairman shall preside over meetings of the Committee, shall
appoint any other sub -committees, shall perform any and all duties necessary
and incidental to his office
B. Vice Chairman serves as Chairman in the absence of the
Chaiman.
C. Secretary shall keep and maintain minutes of each meeting and
shall record the official actions taken and shall perform such other duties as
the Board assigns.
D. The Palm Desert Public Works Director and his staff shall serve as
secretary and staff to the Palm Desert Landscape Committee.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Palm
Desert, California, on this 26th day of April, 2007, by the following vote:
