HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 2010-06RESOLUTION NO. 2010-6 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT AMENDING RESOLUTION 07-80, AS IT RELATES TO THE BUILDING AND SAFETY FEE SCHEDULE FOR POOL PUMP REPLACEMENT PERMITS WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert adopted Resolution 07-78 on December 13, 2007 enacting policies and programs to meet or beat the target of reducing harmful global emissions levels to seven (7) percent below 1990 levels by 2012; and WHEREAS, the City of Palm Desert has identified sustainability as one of its goals; and WHEREAS, energy conservation is a key component to sustainability; and WHEREAS, swimming pools are big energy consumers. Pool owner/ operators spend billions of dollars annually to maintain the nation's pools. Much of this energy is often wasted and can be saved with proper management. Wasting energy also contributes to our growing air quality problem. It's been determined that variable speed pool pumps could cut the pool's electric costs by up to 70%; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT DOES HEREBY AMEND THE BUILDING AND SAFETY FEE SCHEDULE AS IT RELATES TO REPLACEMENT OF POOL PUMPS AS FOLLOWS: Replacement pool pump - Fee waived PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California at its regular meeting held this i ltb day ofFeba- -y2010, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: BENSON, FERGUSON, KELLY, SPIEGEL, and FINERTY NOES: NONE ABSENT: NONE ABSTAIN: NONE CI Y FINE , MAYOR ATTEST: RAC'HELLE D. kCASSEN; CITY CL`El2K CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA
