HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 2012-21RESOLUTON NO 2012- 21 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE CITY'S FY 2009 HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT APPLICATION AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN THE GRANT APPLICATION AND ALL OTHER GRANT DOCUMENTS. WHEREAS, the State Homeland Security Program is a sub -grant of the Homeland Security Grant Program; and WHEREAS, the State Homeland Security Grant Program is a core assistance program and provides funds to build capabilities at the State and local levels and to implement the goals and objectives included in State Homeland Security Strategies and Initiative in the State Preparedness Report; and WHEREAS, the activities implemented under the State Homeland Security Grant Program must support terrorism preparedness by building or enhancing capabilities that relate to the prevention, protection from, or response to, and recovery from terrorism; and WHEREAS, many capabilities which support terrorism preparedness simultaneously support preparedness for other hazards; and WHEREAS, the City of Palm Desert aggressively pursues Federal and State grants to enhance its public safety capabilities; and. WHEREAS, procedures established by the Homeland Security Program require a City Official be authorized to sign the grant application and other grant documents; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA HEREBY: 1. Formally supports the City's FY 2009 Homeland Security grant application; and 2. Agrees to comply with all grant requirements and reporting; and 3. Authorizes the City Manager, or his designee, to execute for and on behalf of the City of Palm Desert, a public entity established under the laws of the State of California, any actions necessary for the purpose of obtaining federal financial assistance provided by the federal Department of Homeland Security and sub - granted through the State of California. Resolution No. 2012-21 PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, on this 22nd day of March, 2012, by the following vote, AYES: BENSON, FINERTY, HARNIR, KROONEN, and SPIEGEL NOES: NONE ABSENT: NONE ABSTAIN: NONE OBERT A.
