HomeMy WebLinkAboutRDA RES 059RESOLUTION NO. 59 A RESOLUTION OF THE PALM DESERT REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY SUPPORTING THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES POSITION OF OPPOSITION TO ASSEMBLY BILL 766. WHEREAS, the City of Palm Desert does operate and enjoy the benefits derived from a Redevelopment Agency; and WHEREAS, the funding source for the operation of said Aaency is derived from the Tax Increment Financing System; and WHEREAS, Senate Bill 766 by Congressman Alan Robbins "would require redevelopment agencies to reimburse fire districts organized or operating under the Fire Protection District Law of 1961, for tax revenues 'taken from the districts' due to tax increment financing."; and WHEREAS, Senate Bill 766 would be a precedent in restricting funding guaranteed by the tax increment financing system. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Palm Desert Redevelopment Agency does oppose such legislation, and that copies of this Resolution shall be forwarded to appropriate legislators, committees, and other in- terested qarties.
