OF PALN DESERT, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE
10. 348, Of THE COUNTY Of RIVERSIDE RELATING TO
TIN% LIMITS FOR VARIANCES AND CONDITIONAL USE
PERMITS
The City Council of the City of Pals Desert, California,
GOES HERE3T ORDAIN as follows,
SECTION 1, That Section 18.27(e) be and the saws is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 18.27 Variances—.
(a) Use of Variance. Any variances granted shall be used
within one year from the effective date thereof which one year
period may upon the showing of substantial progress by the
applicant to the City Council may be extended for a period of an
additional one year, otherwise the variance shall be null and
void. The tars "use" shall mean the beginning of substantial
construction for which the variance has been granted, which
construction must thereafter be pursued diligently to completion,
or the actual occupancy of existing buildings or land under the
terms of the authorised variance. Effective date of a variance
11 shall be determined pursuant to Section 18.26."
SECTION 2: That Section 18.28(f) of Ordinance No. 348
shall be amended to read as follows:
"Section 18.28 Use of Permit
(f) Any conditional use permit. Any conditional use permit
granted shall be used within one year from the effective date
thereof which one year period may upon the showing of substantial
progress by the applicant to the City Council way be extended for
a period of an additional one year, otherwise the conditional use
permit shall be null and void. The tern which the conditional use
permit has been granted, which construction must thereafter be
pursued diligently to completion, or the actual occupancy of the

conditional use permit. Effective date of a conditional use permit
shall be determined pursuant to Section 18.26."
