COUNCIL CM or PALM I)SURT, CALIFORNIA, ORDINANCM NO, 39 MIRTING TO DOGSZ0MMrjt# ;Cali-Q The City Council of the City of P fornia, DONS HEREBY ORDAIN as follows sac TiON Is Ordinance No. 39 of the City of Pala Desert, California, is hereby amended by substituting the words "animal control center" wherever the word "pound" appears in said Ordinance. SECTION 2s Ordinance No. 39 of the City of Pals Desert, is hereby amended by substituting the words "Chief Animal Control Officer" wherever "Poundmaster" appears in said Ordinance. SECTION 31 Ordinance No. 39 of the City of Pals C. Desert is hereby amended by substituting the words "Health Officer" wherever the words "Director of Public Health" or "Director" appears in said Ordinance. SECTION 4s said Ordinance is hereby amended by modifying section 1, subparagraph (f), to read as follows: "(f) Chief Animal Control Officer. "Chief Animal Control Officer means any person or any duly authorised agent of any such person in charge of any animal control center." SECTION Ss said Ordinance is hereby amended by modifying Section 1, subparagraph (h), to read as follows "(h) vaccination and vaccination against rabies shall wean the inoculation of any dog four months of age or older with canine chick -embryo origin modified live -virus rabies vaccine, which immunises for a period mat to moo" 30 months, or canine nerve tissue killed - virus rabies vaccine, which immunises for a period not is exceed 10 months in a manner prescribed by the California State Department of Public Xsalth." Page 1. SR MOP d: said Ordinance No. 39 is hereby amended by adding to section 1 the following subparagraph (j)e "(j) At large. "At large" shall mean any dog, except a vicious dog, which is off the premises of and not within the reasonable control or call of the owner or person in charge thereof." SECTION 7: Section 2.1 of Ordinance No. 39 of said City shall be modified to read as follows: "Section 2.1. Fees. A license for each dog shall be issued upon the payment of a fee of Four Dollars ($4.00) per spayed male or female animal. and a fee of Eight Dollars ($8.00) per unspayed male or female animal. A license shall be effective until the lot day of October following issuance and shall be renewed within thirty days after each 1st of October. Every dog attaining the age of four months shall be immediately subject to all of the provisions of this chapter. If an application is mad* more than thirty days after the data such license is required. the applicant shall pay an additional fee of Four Dollars ($4.00). In the *vent that a dog is brought into the incorporated area of the City after October let, or • in the event that a dog becomes four months of age following such date, the license fee shall be calculated an a pro rate basis by quarters. If a license tag for an individual dog is lost or destroyed, a duplicate thereof nay be procured from the outborised person or agency designated by the city council, upon submission of proof of loss and upon pay moat of the sum of Two Dollars ($2.00). go fee shall be required for a license for any dog being reared, trained, or used as a wide dog for the blind if the dog is in the possession and under the control of a blind person or a bona fide organiza- tion having as its primary purpose the furnishing and training of guide dogs of the blind." SICTIO14 e: There shall be added to Baia Ordinance No. 39, Section 2.6 which shall read as follows: "Section 2.6. Dog kennel license. Every person engaged in the business of operating a dog kennel or pet shop shall obtain -a license from the Health Officer. A license shall be valid until the lot day of October following issuance, and shall be renewed within thirty days thereafter. The license fees, and the additional L fees if an application for a license is made more than thirty days after the date such license is required, shall be as follows: S to 10 dogs $25.00 Additional fee 4.00 11 to 19 dogs 50.00 Additional fee 4.00 20 or more dogs 100.00 • Additional fee 4.00 SECTION 9. Subparagraph (a) of Section 3.1 of said Ordinance of said City shall be modified to read as follow: "(a) An ispounded dog or cat say be redeemed upon payment of a Tan Dollar ($10.00) fee for the first ispeundsent within a 12-month periods upon payment of a Pap 3. Twenty Dollar (i20.00) fee for the second impoundment within such pariodi and upon Thirty Dollar ($30.00) fee ter the third or subsequent impoundment within such period, in addition, for each day that a dog or cat has been impounded, there shall be a charge of Two Dollars (i2.00). The fee for destruction and disposal of any dog or cat shall be Two Dollars and Thirty Cents (42.20). Any dog four months or older which has been impounded shall not be released from impoundment unless It is licensed in accordance with the provisions of this Ordinance.• SECTION 10s Section 4, subparagraph (1) thereof, of Ordinance No. 79 shall be „modified to read as follows •(1) Far the owner or person in charge thereof of any vicious dog to fail, neglect, or refuse to keep posted in a conspicuous place at or near the entrance to the premises on which said dog is kept, a sign having letters at least two inches in width and reading "Beware of Vicious Dog". No vicious dog shall be permitted to leave the premises of the owner or person in charge thereof unless such dog is under the immediate control and physical restraint of such owner or person in charge thereof . • 80CTION Ili Section f of said Ordinance No. 29 of said City shall be modified to read as followas •Section S. failure to license. Violatlon of wy of the provisions of this Ordinance is an infraction punishable by a fine of not more than fifty Dollars ($50.00) for the first offense, and for a second or rdmm pmt offense of sot more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).
