HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1010ORDINANCE NO. 1010 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 935 AS IT RELATES TO THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE WHEREAS, the City Council established the Technology Committee on February 24, 2000, for the purpose of advising the City Council on technological issues in the community; and WHEREAS, this committee has been of great assistance in dealing with issues such as telecommunications, e-government, cable franchise, etc., to the extent that it is seeking an increased membership for its board. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY ORDAIN, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: That Section 2.72.020 of the Palm Desert Municipal Code, being the same, is hereby amended to read, as follows: "Section 2.72.020 Membership. A. The Technology Committee shall consist of seven members appointed from the community at large, representing both residential and business interests. Membership may be comprised of people recognized as having expertise in computer or telecommunications technology, expertise in related regulatory and legal issues, or the management and application of telecommunications and information systems. Members of the Committee or any other group or individual may recommend nominees for membership. Appointments shall be made by the City Council." All other parts of this section remain in full force and effect. Section 2: The City Clerk of the City of Palm Desert, California, is hereby directed to publish this ordinance in the Desert Sun, a newspaper of general circulation, circulated in the City of Palm Desert, California, and shall be in full force and effect thirty (30) days after its adoption.
