AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 3.16 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, RELATING TO NEW CONSTRUCTION
TAX (RESIDENTIAL ZONES, TRAILER SPACES, AND OTHER
CONSTRUCTION)
The City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California,
DOES HEREBY ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1: That Section 3.16.020 of the Code of the City
of Palm Desert, California, be and the same is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"3.16.020 Tax rate designated. In addition to any other
fee or fees prescribed by law, every person constructing any new
building or addition or trailer space in the City shall pay to the
City a sum appropriately computed as follows:
A. For each dwelling unit in a single-family, condo-
minium, apartment complex, multidwelling structure, or in a
hotel or dormitory, forty cents per square foot of gross building
area under roof, excluding accessory structures or areas such as
carports, garages, recreation buildings;
B. For each trailer space, three hundred dollars;
C. For each unit or structure in an industrial or service
industrial zone, five cents per square foot of gross building area
under roof;
D. For any other construction not falling within the
definition of dwelling unit or trailer space or within subsections
A, B, or C above, forty cents per square foot of gross building
area under roof;
E. Notwithstanding any of the provisions of this section,
no fee shall be payable on account of construction of additional
space to an existing signle-family dwelling, which construction
does not exceed two thousand dollars in valuation."
SECTION 2. The City Clerk of the City of Palm Desert,
California, is hereby directed to cause this ordinance to be published once
within fifteen days of adoption in the Palm Desert Post, a newspaper pub-
lished and circulated within the City of Palm Desert, California, and the
same shall be in full force and effect thirty days after adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED by the City Council this
2rth day of Octohpr , 1979, by the following vote, to wit:
