HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 325ORDINANCE NO. 325 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO TITLE 10, VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, has determined that trucks and recreational vehicles in excess of 8 feet in height and in excess of 20 feet in length when parked on public streets create a traffic hazard and degrade the residential quality of life. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, has determined that the proposed amendment would better serve the public health, safety and general welfare of the citizens of Palm Desert. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct and constitute the consideration of the council in this matter. 2. That it does hereby approve a vehicles and traffic ordinance text amendment as provided in the attached exhibit, labeled Exhibit "A", amending the Palm Desert Municipal Code, Title 10. 3. The city clerk is directed to publish this ordinance once in the Palm Desert Post, a newspaper of general circulation, published and circulated in the City of Palm Desert and shall certify to the passage of adoption of this ordinance and the same shall be in full force and effect thirty (30) days after its adoption. PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Palm Desert City Council, held on this 10th day of February, 1983, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Jackson, Kelly, Snyder & ffilson NOES: Puluqi ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None i ATTEST: SHEILA R. GIEL�GAN, Cit le City of Palm Desert, Cal' nia /pa CITY COUNCIL ORDINANCE NO. 325 EXHIBIT "A" ADD: 10.16.100 Prohibition of parking of trucks and recreational vehicles. Notwithstanding any other provision of this title, the parking and/or storage of trucks or recreational vehicles exceeding a height of eight feet and in excess of twenty feet in length, shall be prohibited on all public streets in the city., provided that this section shall not apply to vehicles utilized routinely for local transportation and which are parked within 200 feet of the residential, commercial or industrial structures with which they may be associated. 11 I
