AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA,
REGULATING THE PARKING OF RECREATIONAL
VEHICLES ON PUBLIC STREETS
The City Council of the City of Palm Desert,
California, DOES HEREBY ORDAIN, as follows:
Section 1. That Chapter 10.96 be, and the same is
hereby, added to the Code of the City of Palm Desert,
California, to read as follows:
"Chapter 10.96
10.96.010.
Recreational Vehicles.
Recreational Vehicle Defined.
"Recreational Vehicle" includes, but is not
limited to, any motor home, travel trailer, dirt bike,
dismounted camper body, dune buggy, off -road vehicle
(2-wheel, 3-wheel, 4-wheel or tracked) and boat's of any size
with or without the transporting trailer.
10.96.020. Temporary Parking Permit Procedure.
A. The parking and/or storage of
recreational vehicles on public streets is prohibited in the
City, unless a permit is obtained as provided in
subparagraph B., below.
B. Upon receipt of a properly completed
application, a parking permit shall be issued by the Code
Enforcement Officer to any individual who desires to park a
recreational vehicle on a public street in the City for a
period of time not to exceed 72 consecutive hours.
Application for a permit shall be made to the Code
Enforcement Officer on a form provided by the Code
Enforcement Department. Application for the permit shall be
made on the next day that the City Offices are open
following the arrival of the applicant's recreational
vehicle in the City.
C. No permit fee shall be paid for the
issuance of any permit or any extension of any permit
required by this -Chapter.
D. One extension of the permit may be

granted, up to a maximum of 72 hours. No more than one
extension may be granted.
E. No more than six (6) permits may be
obtained during any calendar year by any applicant.
10.96.030. Exemptions.
This chapter shall not apply where the
recreational vehicle is brought into the City for a
reasonable time for the sole purpose of loading or unloading
the recreational vehicle."
Section 2. That Section 10.16.100 of the Code of
the City of Palm Desert be, and the same is hereby, repealed.
Section 3. That Section 25.58.070 of the Code of
the City of Palm Desert, California, and the same is hereby,
repealed.
Section 4. Publication. The City Clerk shall
certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance and
shall cause the same to be printed once in The Palm Desert
Post, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published
and circulated in the City of Palm Desert, and this
ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty (30) days
after its adoption.
