Home My WebLink AboutORD 884ORDINANCE NO.884 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, DISSOLVING THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE BY RESCINDING ORDINANCE NO. 775 AND DELETING CHAPTER 2.26 OF TITLE 2 OF THE PALM DESERT MUNICIPAL CODE. WHEREAS, the City Council established the Economic Development Committee on March 27, 1986, for the purpose of advising the City Council on matters of local economic development affecting the City and its future; and WHEREAS, in September, 1995, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 775 which renamed the committee the "Economic Development Advisory Committee" and refocused and expanded its purpose, goals, and objectives to better address the needs of the City; and WHEREAS, at its meeting of June 25, 1998, the City Council received a report from the Committee which stated that the economic dynamics in Palm Desert have changed since the creation of the Committee and asked for a clearer vision and direction from the City Council as to how the Committee could benefit the City and citizens into the next century; and WHEREAS, at its meeting of June 25, 1998, the City Council directed staff to prepare an ordinance dissolving the Economic Development Advisory Committee as it is currently comprised and directed its two liaison members of the City Council to the Committee to prepare a report and recommendation on the refocus and reorganization of the committee for the future. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, DOES HEREBY ORDAIN as follows: Section 1. That Ordinance No. 775 establishing the Economic Development Advisory Committee is hereby rescinded in its entirety. Section 2. That Section 2.26 of Title 2 of the Palm Desert Municipal Code which codified Ordinance No. 775 is hereby deleted in its entirety. PASSED, APPROVED, and adopted by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, at its regular meeting held on the 27 th day of August , 1998, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Crites, Kelly, Spiegel, Benson NOES: None ABSENT: Ferguson ABSTAIN: None At BENSON, MAYOR ATTEST: S1iEII.A R.
