HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 913ORDINANCE NO. 913 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, RESCINDING ORDINANCE NOS. 729 AND 746 AND AMENDING SECTION 10.36.010 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE RELATIVE TO ESTABLISHING SPEED ZONES WHEREAS, the California Vehicle Code allows local jurisdictions to establish speed zones on local streets by use of an Engineering and Traffic Study; and WHEREAS, an Engineering and Traffic Study, as required, has been conducted and the need for a new speed zone has been determined; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert finds that all of the recitations are true and correct and does constitute the findings and consideration of the Council in this case. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Pahn Desert, California, does hereby ordain as follows: That Section 10.36.010 of the Municipal Code of the City of Palm Desert, California, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: "10.36.010 Established: The following speed zone is established as follows: Miles Per Hour Roadway Segment 50 Portola Avenue between Country Club Drive and Magnesia Falls Drive 40 Portola Avenue between Magnesia Falls Drive and Highway 111 35 Portola Avenue between Highway I I I and Grapevine Street 40 Portola Avenue between Grapevine Street and Mesa View Drive" 2. That Ordinance Nos. 729 and 746 being the same are hereby rescinded. 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish this ordinance in the Desert Sun, a newspaper of general circulation, circulated in the City of Palm Desert, California, and shall be in full force and effect thirty (30) days after its adoption. PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, on this 13 th day of May , 1999, by the following vote, to -wit: AYES: Benson, Crites, Ferguson, Kelly, Spiegel NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None Q ROBERT A.
