Recommendation:
By Minute Motion;
1. Allocate from un-obligated funds $11,183.22 from account 400-
4614-453-40.01.
2. Approve Change Order #1 with Hort Tech Landscape, Inc., La
Quinta CA) in the amount of $11,183.22 including contingency
for the Landscape Installation on Portola Avenue and the
Hovely Lane East Median Island Projects (Project 915-04).
Discussion:
The landscapes on several private properties were within the construction area of
Capital Improvement Project 630-99, Widening of Portola Avenue Northbound from San
Marino Circle to El Cortez. These properties are located on the west side of Portola
between Alessandro and El Cortez. The landscapes on these properties were impacted
by the construction process and required replacement.
On June 10, 2004, City Council awarded Contract No.C22360 to Hort Tech Landscape,
Inc. for Capitol Improvement Project 915-04, Landscape Installation on Portola Avenue
and the Hovely Lane East Median Island Project, in the amount of $103,515.00. The

scope of this project did not include the above -mentioned properties. Since Hort Tech
was on site; their services were used to replace the needed landscapes.
Funds are currently available in account 400-4614-453-40.01.
Therefore, the staff recommends that City Council approve Change Order #1 to
Contract No. C22360 for $11,183.22
