Box 2882 Indio, California 92202 August 26, 2004 Change Order No. 1 Interoffice Memorandum Vicinity Map Recommendation: By Minute Motion, ratify Change Order No. 1 to Contract No. 22100(A) with Coachella Valley Construction Services, in the amount of $17,000. Discussion: One June 10, 2004, City Council awarded Contract No. C 22100(A) to Coachella Valley Construction Services (CVCS), in the amount of $35,000, for the Construction Management of Aztec Road (Project 602-02). During the construction process of Aztec Road, unforeseen conflicts were discovered with existing utilities. It was necessary to mitigate these conflicts in the field, resulting in additional hours being required of the construction manager. Currently CVCS is currently under contract to work twenty-four hours per week. Due to the complexity of the construction environment Public Works staff has determined that the project requires forty hours per week of on -site construction management. Funds are available for this in project account 213-4623-433-4001. As the job complexity changes and the percent complete increases CVCS will be scaled back down to twenty-four hours per week. The additional cost for these services will be $17,000. Therefore, staff recommends that City Council by minute motion, ratify Change Order No. 1 to Contract No. C22100A, with Coachella Valley Construction Services, in the amount of $17,000.00. Ortega, City Manager From: Ryan Gayler, Management Analyst Date: July 30, 2004 Subject: CHANGE ORDER FOR AZTEC ROAD PROJECT (P602-02) Coachella Valley Construction Services has been providing construction management services on the Aztec Road project. They are currently under contract to manage the project twenty-four hours per week. Due to the complexity of the project at this stage, Public Works has determined that the project requires on -site management at a rate of forty hours per week. This increased level of service will be required until the project is approximately eighty-five percent complete. As the job winds down, CVCS will be scaled back down to twenty-four hours per week. The increased cost to the contract for the additional services will be $17,000. Please approve change order #1 to Coachella Valley Construction Services.
