December 9, 2004 Memorandum from Michael Fife, dated November 17, 2004 Sheila R. Gilligan, Assistant City Manager for Community Services 1. Authorize the City's participation in the CVA Airport signage project; 2. Appropriate an amount not to exceed $3,000 from the Unobligated General Fund Reserve. Discussion: The CVA has consistently urged the Palm Springs Airport to upgrade its signage to provide more specific direction for the East Valley cities. Currently, signs indicate "Other Desert Cities" with no listing for individual communities. The new Executive Director for the Palm Springs Airport has been open to making these modifications and sees it as an improvement to the guests arriving to the valley -wide airport. The JPA Executive Committee for the CVA reviewed this program at its meeting of November 17 and voted unanimously that each member of the CVA be asked to contribute a fair share. Mike Fife has indicated the total cost will not exceed $20,000 and that our City would be invoiced its appropriate share based on the number of participating cities. Agenda Report: Authorize the City's Participation In The CVA Airport Signage Project Page Two December 9, 2004 Staff recommends that the City of Palm Desert appropriate an amount not to exceed $3,000 as the revised signage will be an enhancement for our visitors.
