STAFF REPORT
REQUEST: REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF TRAIL HEAD INFORMATIONAL
KIOSKS DESIGN AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO
ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF
SAID KIOSKS FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $60,000.00.

Recommendation:
By Minute Motion, that the City Council approve the Trail Head Informational
Kiosks design and appropriate an amount not to exceed $60,000; and
Authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement for the construction of
kiosks.
Discussion:
Backaround:
The proposed kiosks are a part of the City's ongoing trail development. The City
is now operating 3 active trail heads;
1. Homme Park
2. Cahuilla Hills Park
3, BLM Visitors Center
Servicina Trails
Homestead & Hopalong Cassidy Trail
Gabby Hayes & Hopalong Cassidy Trail
Randall Henderson Trail
As a part of trail development staff is attempting to mark and identify the existing
trails. The kiosks are intended to identify the trails as well as provide information
about the trail, trail etiquette, surrounding area information, and all applicable
information from the BLM and U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife Services.

In order to meet the February deadline for the Randall Henderson Trail opening
ceremony, staff is attempting to expedite the contract for construction of the
kiosks. Staff will be conducting formal bids and will award to the lowest
responsible bidder, not to exceed $60,000.00.
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the design for the Trail Head
Informational Kiosks, and authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement
for the construction of the kiosks, not to exceed $60,000.00
