City Engineer DATE: May 13, 2004 Recommendation: By Minute Motion; authorize staff to dispose of obsolete signal equipment currently housed at the Joni yard. Discussion: The traffic signal maintenance department has identified several pieces of equipment that are no longer usable by the City of Palm Desert. These pieces are currently stored at the Joni Yard. After considering storage and catalog maintenance of the obsolete traffic signal equipment, staff would like authorization to dispose of these items, possibly donating them to another city within the Coachella Valley. The listing of items is as follows: DESCRIPTION QUANITY 390 CJ Controller 15 390 Controller 4 TMM 500 Master 2 Sheif Mount Detector, Single/Dual Channel 60 2000-16 B Conflict Monitor 5 NCMU-12 2 NSM-12L 1 G:\PubWorks\Staff Reports\2004\May 13\STAFF REPORT dispose of obsolete equipment.dot STAFF REPORT -Dispose of Obsolete Signal Equipment Page2of2 May 13, 2004 Therefore, staff recommends that City Council by minute motion, authorize staff to dispose of obsolete signal equipment, housed at the Joni yard.
