CONTENTS: REQUEST BY WASHINGTON CHARTER SCHOOL
PARENT CLUB FOUNDATION
Recommendation:
By Minute Motion, approve the request of the Washington Charter School Parent Club
Foundation for a waiver of fees for the use of the Civic Center Amphitheater and
Pavilion #1 on May 15, 2004.
Executive Summary:
Each year, Washington Charter School produces a Fiesta Dance Troupe Production in
conjunction with Cinco de Mayo. The performers are all students at Washington
Charter School, and the event is produced for the enjoyment and pleasure of the
students and their families, along with faculty and staff from Washington Charter School
and is free to the general public.
Background:
Washington Charter School formed a Fiesta dance troupe nine years ago. For the past
five years, that school's Parent Club Foundation has requested that the City of Palm
Desert participate in the production of this event by waiving its fees. This performance
is open to the public. The request of the Washington Charter School Parent Club
Foundation is that fees for reservation of a park pavilion and amphitheater, on May 15,
2004, at a total $200.00 be waived.

Because the City continues to support Palm Desert youth and the various benefits of
assisting with production of this performance, staff recommends that appropriate fees
be waved.
