C21590 with Dudek & Associates, in the amount of
$30, 920.00
Discussion:
On July 10, 2003, City Council approved Contract No. C21590, with Dudek &
Associates, for design engineering for the Dinah Shore Drive and Portola Avenue
Extension, in the amount of $58,880.00 plus Contingency in the amount of
$5,888.00. On December 9, 2004, Contract Amendment No. 1 was approved in
the amount of $34,000.00. This amendment was for additional street profile
changes and traffic signal modifications to the Portola Avenue at Gerald Ford
and Dinah Shore Drive intersections necessary to complete the improvements.
This amendment will incorporate Council's request to increase the number of
lanes on the proposed Dinah Shore Drive extension from Avenue 35 to the

temporary terminus at the new intersection with proposed Portola Avenue. The
original design included four lanes with a raised center median. The re -design is
for a six -lanes arterial. The consultant will provide additional plan revisions
anticipating the six -lane pavement geometry. In addition, the design engineer
will redesign the traffic signal at Portola Avenue and Dinah Shore Drive. The
following is a summary of the additional work and fee:
• Street Alignment Geometry Revisions
• Traffic Signal Modifications at Portola Avenue & Dinah Shore Drive
Total Cost $24,000.00
In addition, staff has determined the need for additional field surveys. The
existing engineering design was based entirely on outdated aerial topography,
supplied by the developer. This additional work request, will determine the
deference between the aerial topography and the existing field conditions. The
fee for the additional surveys is $6,920.
Funds are currently available in the project account: 213-4365-433-4001.
Therefore, staff recommends that City Council, by minute motion approve
Contract Amendment No. 2 in the amount of $30,920.00
