Discussion: The Risk Manager, in order to attain the Risk Manager's Professional certification of Associate in Risk Management (ARM) must pass three exams presented by the accrediting body, the Insurance Institute of America. The Risk Manager has taken and passed ARM 54, ARM 55, and only requires passing the ARM 56 to attain the certification. The Public Agency Risk Managers Association (PRIMA) provides a three-day review course followed immediately by the exam as a service to its members who wish to attain this certification. The previous two tutorials and exams were in Costa Mesa, California, but PRIMA unexpectedly moved the site of the third tutorial and exam to Las Vegas, Nevada, to improve attendance of their Fall Government Risk Management Seminar, which they offer concurrently with the exam tutorial. The total travel budget for the trip is expected not to exceed $1,100 for auto, hotel, meals, and parking, which funds are available in the Development Services budget Account No. 110-4260-422.31-20. The tutorial registration fee ($590), exam fee and course books ($298) funds are available from the Human Resources Education Reimbursement account. The approximate total of travel cost and conference fees are $1988.
