HUMAN RESOURCES
STAFF REPORT
REQUEST: Approve use of Temporary Agencies to provide temporary
staffing services.
SUBMITTED BY: Lori Camey, Human Resources Manager
DATE: September 9, 2004
CONTENTS: Staff Report
Recommendation:
By Minute Motion: Approve the agencies listed below to provide
temporary staffing services to the City of Palm Desert as needed.
Discussion:
The City utilizes temporary staffing services on an as -needed basis. These
services are primarily used to cover vacant positions, or positions in which the
regular staff person is off work due to a leave of absence. In addition the City
utilizes a temporary staffing services company to process payroll functions for our
Student Worker/Intemship Program.
Charges for these services vary depending upon the position covered and the
length of the assignment. In 2004 the Human Resources department contacted
agencies in the Coachella Valley and received proposals from seven. Taking into
consideration cost and quality of services we've received in the past, Staff
recommends the acceptance and approval of the following agencies for temporary
staffing services in fiscal year 2005-2006.
