Background Material RECOMMENDATION By Minute Motion: Ratify City Manager's Approval of Change Order No. 3 in the amount of $2,466.24 to Commercial Diversified, Inc. (Twentynine Palms, CA), for various construction modifications associated with the Fire Station No. 67 Renovation Project. BACKGROUND On March 10, 2005, the City Council awarded the Mesa View Fire Station Renovation Project to Commercial Diversified, Inc. (Twentynine Palms, CA) in the amount of $1,395,000, plus a 10% contingency. Please note that the Council previously ratified Change Order No. 1 & 2 for a combined total of $9,275.81. Change Order Number 3 is in the amount of $2,466.24. This change order is to accommodate several modifications and a credit as follows: Additional TV cable extensions to remove cables from roof and extend to the dorms (option #2-no conduit) Additional seismic work needed at the roof area of the Training Room. The added hold-downs are needed because they were missing from the original construction. Raising the existing ducts above the Kitchen ceiling in order to install the new recessed lights. Remarks: The intent is for Detail 3/S5.1 to apply to 4 (four) points in the shear walls where the 4 x 4 wood posts are supposed to be located. This also applies to the foundation where the posts meet the concrete. At this point we should have 4 HD 2 hold-downs in place. If they are not there, they will need to be installed per detail 3/S3.0. In the end we need all four posts to have hold- down connections per detail 3/S5.1 to carry the shear down from the roof to the foundation. Please confirm that the proposal sent to me will address this intent.
