CITY OF PALM DESERT BUILDING & SAFETY DEPARTMENT STAFF REPORT REQUEST: Request for out-of-state travel to the National H.T.E. User's Group (HUG) Conference, Las Vegas, Nevada, June 5-10, 2005. SUBMITTED BY: Amir Hamidzadeh, Director of Building and Safety DATE: February 10, 2005 CONTENTS: Preliminary Seminar Registration and Program Information Recommendation: By Minute Motion approve out-of-state travel to the five-day National H.T.E. Users' Group (HUG) Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, June 5-10, 2005, for three (3) Building and Safety Department Staff. The funding for this request is currently available in Account No. 110-4420-422-3120 Conf/Seminars/Workshops. Executive Summary: This national conference will bring over 1200 experienced users of the SunGard H.T.E. software applications. The conference will provide educational workshops, demonstrate any new changes to SunGard software, make major product announcements, and discuss future product enhancements. In addition, users from other jurisdictions get together to discuss and share ideas on how to best use the software and meet with the SunGard H.T.E. representatives on product improvements. The Building and Safety Department is currently using software from SunGard H.T.E. for the building permit, code enforcement, and plan review applications; therefore, it is advantageous to the Department to have a representative from each Division in attendance. Featuring one of the largest convention centers in Las Vegas, Bally's is the Grand Dame o the strip and one of the original luxurious hotels that helped to make Las Vegas a worldwide destination spot. Bally's tradition of a smaller intimate casino area, makes it easy to go from your hotel room to the meeting area without entering the casino.
