CITY OF PALM DESERT EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION NOMINATION FORM Date: November 30, 2004 Nominee: Martin Alvarez Nominating Department: Development Services Nominating Employee: Monica Loredo Reason for nominating employee: First, Development Services received the attached note in late March 2004. Unfortunately, I left on maternity leave and never completed the nomination form until now. Martin Alvarez received a note from a resident thanking him for being pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable, and for being Spanish speaking. In addition, Martin has often gone above and beyond in helping our residents and our local community. Following are just a few samples of his outstanding work. Martin has met and provided excellent service to unhappy residents due to the rise of landscape services maintenance costs, and the formation of Lighting and Landscape Assessment Districts to renovate landscapes to reduce costs. He has made City presentations for a couple of elementary classes in a Paim Desert School and also has made Planning presentations for a College of the Desert class. Martin is always on top of the Development Services departments to receive updates on the follow-ups from the City Manager's office. Martin is an excellent employee and should be recognized for his outstanding customer service and job performance. All done on Lorena's own time. As an example, many hours were spent decorating the employee tent area at the walk for Life event, and just as many hours were spent with on the City's float and the Council's Hummer by ordering the banners and helping with decorating the City's entry. Lorena's actions demonstrate dedication not only to the city, but also to her fellow employees as well. Her sacrificing her time without n complaint to further the betterment of others is refreshing and appreciated. Date: Fd CITY OF PALM DESERT EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION NOMINATION FORM December 10, 2004 Nominee: James Conway Nominating Department: Housing Nominating Employee Janet Moor Reason for nominating employee: James was responsible for coordinating the renovations of the Desert Pointe hallways. This project was envisioned more than 5 years ago, but from the conceptual stage has been a problem because of all the little complexities that had to be addressed first. Before James took this project over, staff assigned to the project became frustrated as the problems seemed to multiply. James took it all in stride and methodically worked through each obstacle one step at a time to accomplish this complicated project. The construction is complete and the mural is in process which has received rave reviews from a member of the City Council as well as some of the Housing Commission members that recently visited the property. James did an outstanding job and persevered. Especially, your employee Denise, who spent a lot of time helping us find the information I needed, she was outstanding in her assistance, her attitude, knowledge, and the friendly way she presented herself, she surely is an asset to the City of Palm Desert. Specifically Gail goes above and beyond in setting up, meetings, tours, travel arrangements, and special events "torchiere trade in". Gail is also exceptional at working through the finance department for all reimbursements and payments for the activities mentioned above. Gail spends many hours outside of regular time e preparing for and participating in various activities related to the Community Gardens and the Community Energy Partnership. The Citizens on Patrol Program has also excelled due to Gail's attention to detail and organizational skills related to meetings, supplies and other program needs. In addition to the above Gail always provides professional customer service and is in a good mood, which makes all of our lives easier. Gail has calmed down many irate citizens overthe Desert Willow Resident Cards and resolved many othertypesof issues with the Special Programs. Gail also assists the Marketing Department with payment of invoices and other financial matters and the Community Services Division with any other proiects or tasks as requested. Cathy took on the challenging Desert Willow lakes project to a successful conclusion, and is now taking on the Report to the Legislative Body, another Agency legal requirement.
