Approval of this fee waiver will assist the Desert Rose Society in defraying expenses associated with producing this activity. Background: Each year the Desert Rose Society sponsors and produces a rose pruning demonstration which is offered to the public at no charge. In order to facilitate the 2005 activity, which is conducted by experts in the field, staff assistance is needed. Since this nonprofit organization holds this event in the rose garden located in the Civic Center Park for the purpose of the benefit and enjoyment of the community, a fee waiver of $160 (one maintenance worker for four hours) is requested. In return for this consideration, the City of Palm Desert will be recognized as an event sponsor. Staff recommends that the City Council approve a fee waiver in the amount of $160 to the Desert Rose Society to provide one maintenance worker for four hours to assist in the production of their 2005 rose pruning demonstration.
