Subject: Appointment of Palm Desert City Librarian — Jeannie Kays
Riverside County Library System Desert Zone Manager Barbara Bowie has notified the
City that Jeannie Kays has been named to succeed Beth Ziegler as City Librarian at the
Multi -Agency Library. She comes to Palm Desert from the Cathedral City Branch of the
Riverside County Library System, and her first official day here will be Monday, January 24.
Amy Dobson of Nashville, Tennessee, will be taking Jeannie's place in Cathedral City.
County Library/LSSI officials made arrangements to bring both Ms. Kays and Ms. Dobson
by City Hall last week during their interview process. Councilmember Benson and I were
pleased to meet and sit down with both of the very qualified candidates. We are delighted
with the decision made to appoint Jeannie, who has been with the Library System for some
time and has already served in Palm Desert as interim Children's Librarian prior to
Alice Ko's appointment to that position.
We look forward to Jeannie's first day with our Library and to continuing to provide our
