Ratify the City Manager's authorization to amend Contract No. C23110 in the amount of $8,250.00 to Omnis of Chino Hills, CA for design and engineering services for additional sidewalk improvements on Hwy. 111. 2. Approve a 10% contingency in the amount of $862.50 Discussion: During preliminary engineering for the portion of the sidewalk in front of the Legacy Furniture Store, which was one of the sections slated for sidewalk improvements, it was discovered that while half of the store was in Palm Desert, the sidewalk would be in Rancho Mirage. In conversations with the City of Rancho Mirage it was determined prudent to include three additional sidewalk segments, that are either adjacent to or across the street from Legacy in the project, two of which are in that city and the third in Palm Desert. Ratify City Manager's Authorization to Amend C23110 July 14, 2005 Page 2 of 2 The City of Rancho Mirage has funds set aside for sidewalk construction in this area and has agreed to reimburse us for the costs of both the engineering and construction. In addition, the City of Rancho Mirage has applied to RCTC for SB 821 funds for half of the total project costs. The amendment is in the amount of $8,250. The contract was previously amended for a total contract amount of $61,600 and this amendment would bring the total contract amount to $69,850. Therefore, staff recommends that City Council ratify the contract amendment. Submitted By: Mark Greenwood, P.E.
