Box 953 Palm Desert, Califomia 92261 DATE: July 14, 2005 CONTENTS: Contract Amendment No. 1 Memorandum to City Manager Recommendation: By Minute Motion, ratify Contract Amendment No. 1 to Contract C23060B for Plan Check Services with Joseph Gaugush in the amount of $15,000. Discussion: On September 23, 2004, City Council approved the award of Contract C23060B to Joseph Gaugush for supplemental engineering support for the Public Works Department. With the growth being experienced in the valley, the Land Development division continues to be in need of augmentation. On June 23, 2005 staff send a request to the City Manager to approve a Contract Amendment in the amount of $15,000. This memorandum and the Contract Amendment is attached for your reference. Staff is requesting that City Council ratify the contract amendment. Therefore, staff recommends that City Council ratify Contract Amendment No. 1 to Contract C23060B with Joseph Gaugush for staff augmentation in the Public Works Department.. Mark Greenwood, P.E. This arrangement was to bridge a personnel gap in the department, insuring that projects in both the Land Development and Capital Improvement areas would not be jeopardized. This need was anticipated to be required for a period of six months, and the contract amount was negotiated accordingly. With the growth being experienced in the valley, the Land Development division continues to be in need of augmentation. Staff is requesting that the contract be amended to include an additional $15,000.00. As execution of this amendment is within the discretionary authority of your office, we are requesting that it be executed to avoid any work delay due to funding. Staff will be preparing a Request for Proposal for these services in the next fiscal year and evaluating all submittals at that time. The amendment accompanying this request is an effort to avoid any work delay in the interim. Michael Errante, P.E.
