GIBSON, FINANCE DIRECTOR CONTENTS: RESOLUTION NO. 05-97 Recommendation: By Minute Motion, that the City Council approve Resolution No. 05-97 Amending Resolution No. 81-61, clarifying provisions for check signatures and collecting matured inactive deposits of the City of Palm Desert. Background: Current practice for the City of Palm Desert is that checks be signed by either the City Treasurer, Assistant Finance Director or Director of Information Systems, and the Mayor or Mayor Pro-Tempore in the case of his or her absence. In some cases, this creates a potential issue of neither the Mayor nor the Mayor Pro-Tempore being available for signature. Approval of this resolution will allow any member of the City Council to sign checks, thereby resolving the potential situation of both the Mayor and Mayor Pro-Tempore being unavailable due to prior obligations, i.e. attending out-of-town meetings and conferences.
