STAFF REPORT
REQUEST: Approval to Appropriate Funds from Fund 430 (Park and
Recreation Fund) for the Art in Public Places Project Contribution
from the Palma Village Park Project.
SUBMITTED BY: Janis Steele, Parks and Recreation Services Manager
DATE: October 27, 2005
Recommendation:
By Minute Motion:
1. Appropriate $10,000 from the Fund 430 (Park and Recreation)
unobligated fund balance.
2. Transfer $10,000 from Fund 430 to the Art in Public Places Fund to
satisfy the Art in Public Places requirement for the Palma Village Park
project.
The Palma Village Neighborhood Park project was complete in June of 2005. As part of
this development, $10,000 was required to be designated to the Art in Public Places
Program Fund (AIPP). The transfer never occurred from the project fund to the AIPP
fund. Once the project was complete and closed in June of 2005, there were no
remaining funds available for the transfer.
Based on the City's Public Art Ordinance, the City requires that its own Capital
Improvement projects contribute a percentage of the overall project construction budget
to enhance visual appeal of the project and city. The agreed upon amount to be
contributed to the AIPP fund for this project totaled $10,000, as the construction budget
was approximately $1,000,000.
