Recommendation:

1. Move contingency for Contract No. C23450 in the amount of
$8,606.80 to base amount;
2. Approve Change Order #1 with Tree Rite (Bermuda Dunes, CA)
in the amount of $8,606.80 for the City Wide Tree Pruning
Project (Project 932-05).

On March 24, 2005, City Council awarded Contract No. C23450 to Tree Rite for the City
Wide Tree Pruning Program, in the amount of $156,088.70.
During the execution of this contract, staff identified forty (40) trees that required pruning
that had not been listed on the original pruning list. The reasons for the addition of these
trees to the pruning schedule were safety and clearance issues. These trees are of
various sizes and consequently the unit price ranges from $17.85 to $433.85 per tree.
Funds are currently available in the landscape accounts 110-4610-453-3320, 110-4611-
453-3370 and 285-4374-433-3321.

Therefore, the staff recommends that City Council approve Change Order #1 to
Contract No. C23450 for $8,606.80.
