Approve Falcon Crest as the formal name for the 93 single-family home development; 2. Approve La Rocca Villas as the formal name for the senior villas; and 3. Approve the following names for the five streets located within the 20- acre site: Verdin Lane, King Fisher Circle, Warbler Way, Golden Eagle Lane, and Mourning Dove Court. Discussion: Members of the Ad Hoc Committee met on September 29, 2005, to name the five streets encompassed in the 20-acre site development, the senior villas, and the single - family home development. In naming both the single-family homes and streets, the intention was to pay tribute to the indigenous birds of the Coachella Valley. The proposed name for the 93 homes is Falcon Crest, a reflection of the three species of falcons that can be found here in the Coachella Valley, the American Kestrel, the Merlin, and the Prairie Falcon. The bird theme was carried through when considering names for the two currently unnamed streets, and renaming the existing three. The proposed street names are as follows: Verdin Lane, King Fisher Circle, Warbler Way, Golden Eagle Lane, Mourning Dove Court. In naming the senior villas, La Rocca Villas, the desire was to honor the former Director of Housing for the Palm Desert Redevelopment Agency. Teresa La Rocca was the driving force behind the Palm Desert Housing Authority for nearly a decade. It was the Committee's wish to honor Ms. La Rocca and her service to the City of Palm Desert.
