Artwork Description: DESERT BLOOM, the original artwork proposed, is an organiclabstract shape to be percieved as a plant form in process of growth;- signifying the beauty and tenacity of the constant virile changes inherent in the desert terain and development. DESERT BLOOM will be fabricated and powder coated a rich, earthy yellow. The desert --durable commercial grade finish will withstand the whitens and flurries of the windy sand storms and rains of the desert for at least five years or more. The sculpture is to represent the resiliency of form working with nature for the enhancement and beautification of architecture and the environment. 2. Siting: DESERT BLOOM is proposed to be sited on a five foot by five foot by two and one half foot tall concrete base, set at an angle as a diamond shape. It will then stand at approximately nine feet tall. The pedistal may be capped with the or, etc., which can W movable for ease of installing the sculpture, as well as helping to eliminate the appearance of any "footings or tag bobs" needed for the sculpture's attachment to the base. Providing a cleaner, more professional profile. The engineering involved also makes removal easier for maintenance, re -painting, etc. 08/16/2005 18:36 310-998-5610 ELLIE RILEY PAGE 04/10 III ARTWORK PROPOSAL AND SPECIFICATIONS--CONTEgUED 3. Materials And Specifications: DESERT BLOOM is proposed to be fabricated in .375 inch thick mild steel, witb .500 thick base plates. The sculpture is to be sand blasted and powder coated with a crinkle finish powder coat. The color is to be a rich earthy yellow. The paint is extremely durable and able to withstand the harshest elements of the desert climate. The durability of the paint is predicted to last at least five years and more. The sculpture will be six and one half feet tall and five feet wide when fabrication is complete (not counting it's size when on the base). 4. Fabrication And Installation Procedures: The fabrication will be from a pattern, (enclosed in proposal pacquet), which has been worked out by our structural engineer, Mark D. Kallas--Mechanical Design Consulting. The procedures for installation of the sculpture have been engineered by him as well. It involves a type of "cap" on the top of the base which can be moved to allow for securing the base plate of the sculpture to the base and then replacing the "cap" for a finished appearance. The engineering plan is for ease of installation as well as removal whenever maintenance is needed. The fabrication and installation procedures will be made by Roger Green, President -Owner of Exclusive Welding, Inc. The fabrication is predicted to take approximately 2 months, according to Roger. 08/16/2005 18:36 310-998-5610 ELLIE RILEY PAGE 05/10 III ARTWORK PROPOSAL AND SPECIFICAT10NS--CONTRgLXD 5, Yearly Maintenance And Conservation; The Desert -durable commercial grade powder coating for DESERT BLOOM has a minianwm period of endurance of over five years, before a possible need to re -paint.
