TRANSMISSION POLES AND ATTACHMENTS CONTRACT
By Minute Motion, that the City Council:
(1) Authorize appropriation for the relocation of transmission poles and
attachments in the amount of $457,024.55;
(2) Authorize staff to enter into the necessary contract with Southern California
Edison for the relocation of transmission poles and attachments; and
(3) Authorize staff to transfer funds from the general fund to the Improvement
fund.
Executive Summary:
The purpose of this action is to provide for the relocation of poles along Portola
Avenue as part of the Section 29 Assessment District.
Discussion:
The design plans for the relocation at the poles on Portola Avenue north of Gerald
Ford have been completed. The estimated cost for the work is $457,0244.55. This
process is the beginning in providing for the expansion of the roadway.
The City authorizing these funds will complete the relocation of the poles by the
middle of March 2007. In March of 2006, Council passed a resolution, which would
provide for the City to be reimbursed for such expenditures through the Section 29
Assessment District.

Staff is recommending that the City Council approve the use of funds and authorize
staff to enter into the contract with Southern California Edison.

SUBJECT: Relocation of Transmission poles and attachments

We have received your plan for the relocation of SCE facilities at the subject
location. A plan of relocation has been developed and the estimated cost in
connection is $467,024.55 In order to clear the proposed street Improvements, it
is necessary to replace and relocate 12 wood poles with 11 wood poles along
with a distribution overhead and underground work and related guying at the
corner of Portola and Gerald Ford.
SCE acknowledges receipt of $10,000 as an engineering advance; therefore, the
balance due is $457,024.55. Final cost for this relocation will be on a completed
cost basis. Therefore, please issue your check payable to Southern California
Edison Company and forward to the address shown below, Attention. Bob
Castillo. Please identify your check with File No. REL04105053.
At the completion of the project you will be billed or refunded any difference
covering the actual cost of this relocation.
All prices quoted and/or written are applicable for 90 days from the date of this
letter, and are subject to change thereafter.
According to this plan of relocation there will be a need for a replacement right
because Edison has an existing Easement for the above mentioned poles and
attachments.
I kncw you are working on gathering all the information for the legal
descriptions for all the easements on Portola for this portion of the
Assessment District project. After you obtain all the information please
send it to me for document preparation.
Work will be scheduled to begin approximately 60 to 90 days after receipt
of your check, executed Easements and signed relocation letter, this letter
should be signed by the entity responsible for all financial billings.
