Recommendation:
By Minute Motion, approve the Second Amendment to the Agreement for Law Enforcement
Services between the County of Riverside and the City of Palm Desert (Contract No. C22012) and
authorize the Mayor to execute same.
Discussion:
Attached is the Second Amendment to the City's contract with the Riverside County Sheriffs
Department to provide services through the Palm Desert Police Department. The amendment
includes those issues and additional positions which were addressed during budget sessions and
subsequently approved by the City Council as part of the Fiscal Year 2006/07 Budget. Lt.
Thetford's memorandum explains the specifics of the amendment.
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the Second Amendment and authorize the Mayor
to execute same.

SECOND AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT
SERVICES BETWEEN COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE AND
CITY OF PALM DESERT
IT IS MUTUALLY AGREED that the Agreement for Law Enforcement Services between the
County of Riverside and the City of Palm Desert, approved by the Board of Supervisors on
November 25, 2003, for services effective July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2008, as amended on
November 1, 2005, is hereby amended in the following respects only:
1. Attachment A is amended to read as follows:

Sheriff positions @ 1,780 annual productive hours per position)

this Agreement to be signed by the Chairman of said Board and attested and sealed by the Clerk of
said Board, all on the dates indicated below.

SUBJECT: Second Amendment to PDPD Contract
Sheila,
Attached you will find three (3) original of the Second Amendment to the Agreement for
Law Enforcement Services with the City of Palm Desert for your review and appropriate
signatures. This contract amendment includes the additional positions approved by
Council. The additional positions are as follows;
Addition of One (1) Special Enforcement / Target Team Deputy.
From 4 positions to 5 positions to allow us to create the 2 may bicycle team for
the business district.
Addition of One (1) Violent Crime Gang Task Force Member.
Once the three (3) original are signed please return them to me so that I complete the
Contract amendment process. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Bob
