Recently we had the wonderful opportunity of purchasing four vacant lots a block away from our home, and we are looking forward to building a new home in our same neighborhood. We purchased the lots from the developer who subdivided the parcel on the corner of Bel Air Rd. and Alamo Dr., who, for reasons we are unaware of, named the road used to access our property Harry F. Kavanaugh Ct. At this time we would like to request that the name of the road for which we own all the property using this address be changed. Harry F. Kavanaugh Ct. as a street address will be very complicated each and every time we would have to state our address. Further more the name means nothing to us and having to explain this to our friends, family and visitors would be a constant inconvenience and actually embarrassing for us. Besides the fact that Harry F. Kavanaugh Ct. has no relationship to the other street names in the area such as Bel Air, Alamo, Skyward, Chia, Barberry, Loma Vista and Homestead just to name a few. We respectfully request that Harry F. Kavanaugh Ct. be changed to Sunshine Ct. We are confident that any future property owners on that street in the years to come will appreciate our efforts. Please see the enclosed information which shows the location of our property and the street we are referring to. Thank you and we hope very much that you will consider our request. Kavanaugh Court. I have lived in the neighborhood since 1988 when my husband Howard and I bought our home on Skyward Way. Our children have enjoyed growing up in this wonderful community in such a great location in Palm Desert. When developer Dan Morgan decided to sell the lots on Bel Air and Alamo we knew right away this was a perfect chance for us to create our dream home in our much loved neighborhood. As a Realtor selling land I have worked with Dan Morgan in the past and was fortunate to get first pick of the lots and we were able to purchase all four lots on the private road. We were so excited about planning our estate and even naming the road, we were not aware at the time the road had been named. When we learned the name of the road was Harry F. Kavanaugh Ct., we were curious where the name come from and we were eventually told it came from a nice neighbor. We agree it was a very kind gesture to name the road after your late husband. We are sorry to approach this subject to you but the problem for us now is dealing with the name of the street. Even in the short time we have owned the lots and in our planning stages for development the name of the street causes much confusion and explanation. It has been confused with the property owner's name and when mentioned we are always asked to explain where it came mactial and difficult to use on a dailydbas sputer driven world this lengthy street name is impractical So with this letter we regret to inform you that we have requested through the City of Palm Desert that the name be changed for mainly practical reasons. When we bought the lots we thought Sunshine Court would be a great name, which is sentimental to my husband and me. The City of Palm Desert suggested an Alamo address or Bel Air Court. If our request is granted we would request Sunshine Court or if you would Like we could work out a name with you shorter o not an your h and bad full feel feelings with youwould and ourn neighbors, and we hope you canle compromise. We certainly stand want to causeY our desire to have a more convenient street name. Originally we had planned to build on all four lots, but I was recently diagnosed with cancer and my husband and I decided it would be best to downsize our "dream"; therefore it looks that we will be forced to sell two of the lots, with the hopes of one buyer for one additional home. We have been told by interested parties that they would appreciate our efforts in changing the name of the street. As I am under going an intense treatment plan at this time if you have any questions or would like to comment, please call Katy Krenn my partner at Coachella Valley Land 760-773-6500 or Phil Joy at the City of Palm Desert 760-346-0611. We thank you and appreciate your hopeful understanding in this matter. Sincerely, Beverly Chuch CC: Phil Joy, City of Palm Desert cell 760-578-3809 Home 760-340-2397
